Valentine’s Day is upon us again. It’s a time of candlelit dinners, heart-shaped chocolate boxes from the petrol station and (depending on your relationship status) watching old romantic comedies while you drink gin by yourself.
It’s a great celebration. But where did it come from?
The most common explanation for how Valentine’s Day came to be is the ancient festival of Lupercalia, a raucous, wine-fuelled fertility rite in which Roman men and women paired off.
Here at Liquor Library we are suggesting you ditch the wine and replace it with gin and what better gin to do that with than Edinburgh’s Valentines Gin!
Edinburgh Valentines Gin, with its distinctive, floral tones of rose petals and
hibiscus, is perfect for the season of romance. Chamomile, lemon balm, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaf marry to produce a citrus freshness to the gin. Pink peppercorns add a perfumed spice, and a touch of bee pollen brings a silky-smooth sweetness. The distillers then post infuse fragrant rose and hibiscus flowers to impart delicate floral notes and contribute to the beautiful pink hue.
Pair with rose lemonade or a light tonic and if that doesn’t sound delicious enough we are giving away two Edinburgh Gin balloon Hi-Ball glasses (as shown in the banner) with every bottle before the 13th of Feb!
Light and aromatic it’s also a perfect base for cocktails and we have a killer suggestion for you if your handy with a shaker!
